Beginner Pencil & Charcoal Drawing with Heidi Merrick

Thurs, 2/7-2/28 | 6:30-8pm

Learn the basic steps of how to draw using pencils and charcoal and how to make different textures and marks on the page. Then we will move on to drawing simple objects, such as bottles and books. Finally, we will start to draw more complicated figures, like birds, dogs, and landscapes.

Recommended supplies: A set of drawing pencils, ranging from about 5H to 8B, large eraser (preferably one from an art store rather than that standard pink ones at home), pad of drawing paper (at least 9" x 11"), kneaded eraser, Vine charcoal (one pack of soft or medium), Compressed charcoal sticks (soft, medium, and hard), Charcoal pencils (soft, medium, and hard) and drawing stumps/tortillons
