Beginner Pencil and Charcoal Drawing

Learn the basic steps on how to draw using pencils and charcoal. Start by learning how to make different textures and marks on the page. Then we will move on to drawing simple objects, such as apples and books. Finally, we will start to draw more complicated figures, like birds, dogs, and landscapes.

Supplies needed:  set of drawing pencils, ranging from about 5H to 8B, large eraser (preferably one from an art store rather than that standard pink ones at home), pad of drawing paper, at least 9" x 11",  kneaded eraser, Vine charcoal (one pack of soft or medium), Compressed charcoal sticks (soft, medium, and hard), Charcoal pencils (soft, medium, and hard), Drawing stumps or tortillons
